Under Gordon Brown, priorities are pretty much screwed up.
Gordon Brown’s $1 trillion global rescue package unravels
"Britain has agreed to lend up to $15 billion to poorer economies and is willing to provide up to $11 billion more as part of an EU package." Germany thinks the scale of spending will be inflationary. There will be a follow-up summit this month in Pittsburgh.
NHS may need to lose 137,000 staff to meet £20 billion savings target
A leaked Department of Health report. "The report also said that if four million of the 29 million outpatient appointments each year could be cut, it would save £600 million." Not to mention those patients in hospitals "who don't need to be there."
NOTE: Pittsburgh has budgeted $19.5 million or $25 million. Or more. For the summit. Meanwhile, they want the state to take over their troubled public employee pension plan. "The city has 28 percent of money needed for $899 million in potential liabilities." This, while Pennsylvania is desperately trying to raise $1.3 billion for their budget.
