MONICA CONYERS CONVICTED,
SENTENCED TO THREE YEARS IN PRISON
The former Detroit City Council President was sentenced to more than three years in prison after pleading guilty to bribery last summer.
UPDATE (Jun 23) - Monica's not going to prison yet.
U.S. District Court Judge Avern Cohn ruled Wednesday that Monica Conyers can delay the start of her prison sentence until September 10.
The reason? She wants to help a close family member who's having surgery in late July.
Monica Conyers is the wife of Rep. John Conyers (D-Mi) chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. The Chairman, who, as one blogger pointed out, will be, technically speaking, her landlord when she reports to prison, hid out in an upstairs office in the Courthouse when she was sentenced.
John Conyers submitted the recently-passed National Health Care Act to the House.
But that's only part of the stories from the Detroit Sewer.

TARP MONEY FOR HOUSING
Neil Barofsky, the special inspector general over the $700 billion financial rescue package, slammed the administration's housing program for having ill-defined metrics and for helping far fewer homeowners than originally proposed.
The TARP housing program isn't doing the job and may be doing more harm than good. Some amazing conclusions.

LITERARY FRAUD
Author of Last Train to Hiroshima, James Pellegrino, was in the news when the publisher Henry Holt & Company announced they would no longer print, correct or ship the book. The reason, they say, is that the existence of two central characters in the book "could not be proven."
The story has no legs with the Chokehold Media, primarily because Pellegrino is a long-time collaborator with director James Cameron. The director of Titanic and Avatar is a left-wing loon whose grasp of history is so dim that people like Pellegrino write the historical narrative for him. Before the literary fraud was exposed (along with Pellegrino's academic credentials), the two were planning a film based on the now-pulled book.
