Now Majority Leader in the New York Senate.
Pedro Espada, Jr. is the Majority Leader of the New York State Senate.

Espada's organization was in the news earlier this month after four Soundview employees, including [Espada spokesman Alexander] Fear and Pedro G. Espada, the senator's son, were hired by the state Senate. An uproar about the son's appointment to a $120,000 intergovernmental relations job led to his abrupt resignation. The job was newly created for his son.
Read what else he has been involved in. His Soundview Health Care Network owes more than $1 million in back taxes.
Both sides are dirty. A former New York Supreme Court Judge was found guilty of attempted extortion and soliciting a bribe for pressuring a lawyer to give $10,000 to his defense fund. Thomas Spargo was removed from the bench in 2006 "on the recommendation of the state Commission on Judicial Conduct, which cited the pressure he put on lawyers and which criticized some of his earlier actions as a town justice in suburban Albany."
Department of Justice press release on conviction.
