Pension Reform - New Jersey

Gov. Chris Christie (R) signed into law a pension reform package. Most taxpayers don't know just how generous health and pension plans are until you see what they take away.

Bob Ingle, writing in the Courier Post, says "NJEA's antics are starting to tarnish the image of the teachers themselves". "While the Assembly took its sweet time on pension reform Monday, the State House halls were alive with the sound of teachers telling passing lawmakers to "Think of the kids." He asks, "who was thinking of the kids when they abandoned their classrooms to come and protest having to pay something for their health care benefits? Who was teaching the kids? How much did it cost taxpayers to hire substitutes?"
