Both newspapers had to know that the woman who started the Coffee Party, Annabel Park, is a professional activist whose only private sector job was as a Strategy Analyst with -- the New York Times. Her Linkedin. (Since removed, but see Update #3)
Hattip to Instapundit.
UPDATE #1 (Mar 2) - LegalInsurrection reports that, in addition, Ms. Park, 41, is one of organizers and operators of the United for Obama video channel at YouTube.
UPDATE #2 Blogger at Lexington Herald Leader hasn't a clue. (Or maybe she does. Since she refers to an interview Park had with Progressive Blend Radio as if that was a good thing.) The newspaper is owned by McClatchy (Sacramento Bee, etc.) Their motto: "Doing for Kentucky what we did for California."
UPDATE #3 Via Instapundit. A reader wrote that the LInkedin link for Annabel Park (the one showing her as a Strategy Analyst for the NYT) has gone down the memory hole. Instapundit got a screen shot from his browser cache.
UPDATE #4 Riehl World has Annabel From Netroots Nation to Coffee Parties? With a link to Left Coast Rebel's investigations. It's not just the leftwing groups, but the obvious deceit. The Washington Post interviewed her in 2008 and she was in a post at Anderson Cooper's blog at CNN in 2007 in the aftermath of the Virginia Tech shooting by a Korean-American student who killed 33.
Annabel Park said her organization is discussing whether it should set up a national hotline for people [Koreans-Americans] to call if they are harassed. She said they also have consulted with Arab-American groups that faced retaliation after the 9-11 attacks. The " non-profit organization" she works for isn't identified.
What is clear is that every one of these news organizations knew that Park wasn't a neophyte organizer who just happened to start Coffee Party. And the NY Times journalist whose article fluffed up the Coffee Party has a history of bad reporting for which the paper has had to issue corrections. (See Newsbuster archives on Kate Zernike.) She said she didn't disclose Park's association with the Obama administration because -- she was limited to 700 words.
Conclusion: The Coffee Party is strictly AstroTurf. For more, follow the links at the bottom at Riehl World.
