Oct. 9, 1999 - Van Jones, a San Francisco civil rights lawyer helped coordinate a protest march in Oakland - for Mumia Abu-Jamal, the convicted cop killer on death row. Timed, the San Francisco Chronicle writer thinks, to coordinate with a planned meeting between Oakland police and youth.
