THAT WILL HAVE TO BE ONE HELL OF A SPEECH

Dems hope that Obama's speech tonight to Congress tonight on "Health Care Reform" will turn the tide. That might have been before the AP reports today on their poll on the job Obama is doing as sent out by the AP.
REMARKS in red are from the AP poll results online.

Those disapproving Obama's handling of health care = 52 percent.
Only 22 percent strongly approve. (p 13)

Those disapproving how Obama is handling his job as president = 49 percent.
Some 50% approve, but only 22 percent strongly approve. (p 3)

Those disliking his handling of the budget deficit = 56 percent.
Only 11 percent strongly approve. (p 14)

Those disapproving approve of his handling of taxes = 52 percent.
Only 20 percent strongly approve. (p 15)

Those disapproving of his handling of the economy = 52 percent.
Only 20 percent strongly approve. (p 12)

Those disapproving of the "health overhaul plans" plans being considered by Congress = 49 percent.

Only 9 percent strongly approve. (p 16)

Those disapproving his handling of unemployment = 49 percent.
Thirty-four percent strongly disapprove.

When asked what Congress and the President should do about health care when they come back to Washington this fall. (pg 19)
Scrap the current negotiations and start over from scratch = 42 percent.
Leave the health care system as it is now = 18 percent
TOTAL = 60% want Congress and Obama to do nothing or start over.

Disapprove = 69 percent (43 percent strongly disapprove)
Approve = 28 percent (3 percent strongly approve)

Asked how important the Federal Deficit was, (p 7)
Extremely/Very Important = 74%

The make up of those polled were 39% Democrat and 33% Republican. (p 21) Republicans were underrepresented in previous polls. Previous polls had Democrats 48%, 44%, 47%, 46%, 46%, 46^, 44%.
