Checkout girl chosen to be new face of Tesco is arrested for being an illegal immigrant
A Tesco checkout girl chosen to model for the supermarket's autumn advertising campaign is in Britain illegally, it emerged today.
Fatou Cham, 32, who is from Gambia, West Africa, came to the UK in 1998 on a student visa but stayed after it expired in 2001.
Another illegal immigrant who came to the UK on a student visa and stayed is Loloahi Tapui. She is the illegal immigrant housekeeper for -- the Scottish Attorney General, Baroness Scotland. The Attorney General is in charge of immigration enforcement.
Caught out, the Attorney General claims to have seen the housekeeper's passport before hiring her. If so, the act was deliberate. Tapui's passport had a fake visa with an expiration date of 2006.
Baroness Scottland paid the woman £6 per hour. (The going rate is £9 per hour.) Lady Scotland was fined £5,000.
