STUPID GOVERNMENT - BRITAIN

March 16 - If you think the Obama administration is plundering the bottom of the barrel, they're top feeders compared to those in Gordon Brown's administration.

First, there's the retreat from the call for all pet owners to have dog liability insurance for unruly pets after a furious backlash by pet owners. The idiot proposing the measure was Home Office Secretary Alan Johnson. Johnson, self-described as a Marxist, was a former trade union leader. (You know, the knuckle draggers.) He replaced that other certifiable idiot, "Jacqui" Smith, who drew up a list of excluded undesirables who could not enter the U.K., including talk radio host Michael Savage, excluded for "fostering extremism or hate." (See list here.)

SHE had to resign after having to apologize for a home expense scandal. Her husband wrote letters to local newspapers supporting her while forgetting to mention he was her husband. (As well as illegally claiming £116,000 for her constituency house, she claimed £10 for pornographic films her husband watched.)

UPDATE March 18 - Environment Secretary Hilary Benn who wanted Brits to have compulsory dog insurance had another brilliant scheme. Compulsory home food recycling. Householders would be forced to separate food, tea bags and vegetable peelings into different bins. Those who failed to comply would have faced the threat of fines. He changed his mind hours later.
