PENNSYLVANIA SLEAZE #2

Upper Darby, Pennsylvania,  was a subject of a previous post on Pennsylvania Sleaze.    The issue was alleged forging signatures on nominating ballots.  Democrats want ALL of former U.S. Attorney Pat Meehan's petitions thrown out -- because of four suspect signatures.  One of which is the wife of a Upper Darby Democratic Committeeman. Which either makes them dumber than dirt or a victim of political chicanery.

Meehan's group submitted 3,627 signatures so the signature of the wife of highly visible, politically active Committeeman sounds highly suspicious. (More so because she claims to have been a Republican for 25 years and only recently changed parties.)

It's not the end of the story, though. Today, a Delaware County magisterial judge was arrested and charged with forging signatures on nominating petitions for his campaign. David J. Murphy, a district judge since 1991, told an unidentified witness in August that he forged signatures on his nominating petitions for the 2009 primary, according to court documents. A total of 100 signatures were required; 64 were fraudulent.

Murphy is a Republican. He was a Democrat until 1994, when he switched his affiliation to Republican. A female friend of his was also arrested. Murphy had been placed on paid leave last August.
