TODAY

HAVING SECOND THOUGHTS: A Chinese company was supposed to buy the Hummer line from GM for $150 million and continue operations in the U.S. However, the deal fell through because the Chinese government failed to approve the deal. GM will shut down the line. Previously, they shut down Saturn and Pontiac and they barely sold Saab. No wonder the unions are pressing for the hearings on Toyota. The competition, you know, needs to be eliminated. I'd still trust Toyota before I would trust Congress.

GREECE IS STILL DENYING RESPONSIBILITY for their own economic mess. It's the theft of their gold by Nazis that's to blame.

HORROR AD REMOVED from the National Collegiate Athletic Association's website that is maintained by CBS Sports after complaints from faculty and athletic directors. (read: advocates for gay and lesbian athletes.)

The ad is shown left. "It featured a father holding his son and the words, "All I want for my son is for him to grow up knowing how to do the right thing." Like the Tebow ad, it included the address of Focus on the Family's Web site and the slogan, "Celebrate Family. Celebrate Life."

U.S. ISSUES TRAVEL WARNING to U.S. citizens traveling to northern Mexico after shootouts have left 19 people slain over three days. On Feb 8, the Houston Chronicle had an in depth investigative story on the violence in Mexico. My SanAntonio News has a searchable database of Americans killed in Mexico since 2003. Most were innocent bystanders, but not all.

THE MESS in Liberia that left 250,000 people dead in two civil wars might get worse as Prince Yormie Johnson -- Prince is not royal title, but a common first name in Liberia -- the infamous warlord has announced he is running for president. He's famous for cutting the ears off a former president, Samuel K. Doe before murdering him. A film of Doe pleading for his life is still on You Tube. When countries waive debts from poor countries, there's still money to be made that will keep the countries in debt forever. No wonder civil wars in Africa go on forever.

HALF OF THE MOSSAD seems to have been involved in the assassination of a top Hamas official in Dubai. Frankly, most people seem to think taking out Mahmoud al-Mabhouh was a good thing. Two weeks before his death Mahmoud al-Mabhouh bragged in a video about his role in the 1989 killings of two Israeli soldiers.
