But today in Ohio, it seemed like the president was way off his game. But I thought he was defensive, prickly, almost indignant that he's found himself in the tough spot that he's in.Interesting comments about the audience question period. They are spot on.
They also appear to be the same kind of questions he got at political rallies. "What will you do for me?" More for Pell grants? A loan for my business because I want to create jobs? Can you buy my patent? Can you? Can you? (At the CSPAN site, there are links to the Speakers who were allowed to ask questions. Saves listening to the whole tape.)
-------------------
What I found interesting is that it was conducted at Lorain County Community College. A speech on jobs at a community college. How many of those attendees will be working for small businesses? Small businesses created 80% of the jobs in this country. Noticeable, too, is that so much of the speech focussed on him. (Hint: Most of the stimulus money has been spent propping up government jobs and education, especially higher education.)
He repeated "I'll never stop fighting." nine times and "fighting" 12 times. Curiously, you wonder who that was aimed at because he didn't look convinced himself. He certainly looked and sounded unpresidential "We want our money back. We want our money back." Can you say low class?
The reaction of the people behind him is worth noting. They look less than elated. The tightly-framed 8 people shown behind him range from indulgent to "What the hell am I doing here?" None look happy. Not a one. Even classic Barry Obama campaign mode doesn't entertain for more than a few seconds. And they're dressed better than he is.
