Why the Anglican Church is Losing Membership Every Day

“The Taleban can perhaps be admired for their conviction to their faith and their sense of loyalty to each other.”
In the UK, the Right Rev Stephen Venner, the newly-appointed Bishop for the Armed Forces apologized for the quote admiring the Taliban.

From the Times of London,
Bishop Venner later apologised for his comment, saying that it was “one small phrase in quite a long interview” intended to suggest that not all members of the Taleban were “equally evil”.

He told the BBC: “If that has caused offence, I am deeply grieved by it because that’s the very last thing that I would want to do.”

The bishop also issued a statement condemning the Taleban’s tactics and expressing his backing for British forces.
You won't be surprised to learn that he was commissioned in his new role by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams.
