As we noted before, yesterday there was a London Telegraph story on British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and other U.K. government ministers joining Twitter to counteract stories about the National Health Service. It included this bizarre note.
In a highly unusual move, the British Embassy in Washington DC has been instructed to counter inaccuracies about the NHS which have received widespread currency in the US, such as the claim that treatment is rationed according to age.The article "Gordon and Sarah Brown join US pro-NHS Twitter campaign" gave the Associated Press and other U.S. media a chance to produce a number of uncannily alike articles on how Britons "rally to defend their healthcare system."
