Yesterday, FOX news reporter Major Garrett asked White House spokesman Robert Gibbs about unsolicited e-mails from the White House on Healthcare Reform. In the lengthy exchange, Gibbs pretended ignorance of the mailings. Video
However, ABC news reported that same day that the White House launched a "viral e-mail" for "supporters to spread."
There was no mention in the ABC story if it was the White House that was sending many of the e-mails. Which, of course, is the reason those who are receiving the e-mails are asking. They'd like to know where the White House got their e-mail addresses.
The suggestion that anyone who visited the Whitehouse.gov website may have been automatically included is probably not correct. I have visited the website hundreds of times in the last few years in connection with my blog. I am not on the mailing list. My guess is that the White House is collecting e-mail addresses from bloggers who support Obamacare who are forwarding the url addresses or e-mail addresses of dissenters. Scarey.
