Mortgage Fraud

One aspect of the mortgage "crisis" you don't read about is the number of people arrested and convicted of mortgage fraud. You can find out how many through the press releases at the Federal Bureau of Investigation in just about every state.

Most of the schemes involve inflated loans on homes that included fraudulent appraisals and bous loan documents. This scheme defrauded banks of $40 million.
