• Detroit's sprawling population could fall to near 600,000 by 2020.
• The recent foreclosure crisis is just the latest in a series of cataclysms, including shuttered factories and middle-class flight,

In the exact same paper on the same day is the reason why the middle class left Detroit.

Rev. Jim Holley is pastor of Little Rock Baptist Church in Detroit in "Health care and bile" accuses those who oppose government health care as sick, derides Michael Steele for not speaking out against -- imagined - racism. Thinks those "right-wing reactions are not only revolting but potentially dangerous."

Perhaps Steele will soon learn, as will certain other members of his party, that if you choose to share your bed with a disease, then there’s a good chance you’ll contract that same disease before morning arrives.

AND YOU WONDER WHY PEOPLE ARE FLEEING DETROIT? When a newspaper gives space to a race baiting, poverty pimp with ugly polticis like this, what hope is there for any peace, any progress any future? Run, don't walk, to the exits, folks. The middle class life and middle class values you want aren't in Detroit. It's just more of the same.

Dr Taj Hargey, writes " What has Britain come to when it takes a Muslim like me to defend Christianity?"

Christianity is under siege in this country.
Britain's national religion has never been so marginalised and derided, especially by the public institutions that should be defending it.

The case of nurse Shirley Chaplin, who has been banned by Devon and Exeter NHS Trust from wearing her crucifix while caring for patients, is a graphic illustration of this insidious trend.

Indeed, it is surely an affront to the very concept of religious liberty, which was once regarded as a cornerstone of our democratic, respectful and tolerant nation.
For make no mistake, a new form of virulent secularism is sweeping through society - and its target is Christianity.

I am Muslim. But even as a non-Christian, I can see all too clearly the shameful way in which Britain's national faith is being eroded. Indeed, banning a crucifix makes a mockery of our treasured right to religious freedom.

With a typically bureaucratic mix of arrogance and authoritarianism, the Devon and Exeter Trust has claimed that the ban is not an attack on Christianity because wearing a crucifix is not an essential requirement of the faith.

But who appointed these quangocrats to pronounce on matters of religious doctrine? What right do they have to lecture a devout woman about her cherished beliefs?

And why can't they accept that Ms Chaplin's deeply religious convictions, which she chooses to express by wearing the crucifix, also inspire her compassionate work in the NHS?
As a Muslim, I am filled with despair at the attitude of our politically correct officials towards Christianity.

And without the restraining, selfless morality that ultimately stems from faith, the triumph of either social anarchy or totalitarianism becomes a worrying possibility.

Faking a Crisis?

We know government is incompetent,  but a miscalculation on this scale makes you seriously wonder if is just corruption on a massive scale.

Up to £300million of taxpayers' money has been wasted on swine flu jabs that were never needed.

Ministers ordered 90million doses of a vaccine last year at a cost of £540million [$824 mill U.S.] as panic over the illness gripped the country. But as the 'pandemic' failed to materialise it soon became clear that the order was far too large.

The Department of Health tried to get out of the enormous contract but the drug firm, GlaxoSmithKline, refused to back down. Yesterday the Government announced it had signed a compromise deal that caps the number of shots of Pandemrix at 34.8million - but, astonishingly, at twice the price first agreed.

It means the Government will pay for two-thirds of the original deal but only receive just over a third of the doses

You think breastfeeding will be a lifestyle choice? This AP story says otherwise.

The government's new health care overhaul requires large employers to provide private places for working mothers to pump breast milk. And under a provision enacted April 1 by the Joint Commission, a hospital accrediting agency, hospitals may be evaluated on their efforts to ensure that newborns are fed only breast milk before they're sent home.1

The pediatrics academy says babies should be given a chance to start breast-feeding immediately after birth. Bartick said that often doesn't happen, and at many hospitals newborns are offered formula even when their mothers intend to breast-feed.

``Hospital practices need to change to be more in line with evidence-based care,'' Bartick said. ``We really shouldn't be blaming mothers for this.''

THE RESULT:In Minnesota, a couple were evicted from a restaurant because, the woman claims, the restaurant asked her to cover up while breastfeeding. The restaurant says the husband was verbally agressive.

Minnesota law says, "A mother may breast-feed in any location, public or private, where the mother and child are otherwise authorized to be, irrespective of whether the nipple of the mother's breast is uncovered during or incidental to the breast-feeding."

"Morton said she had a baby blanket with her, but Dawson "just won't keep it on."

"I decided why fight with him," she said. "I knew my rights, so I removed the blanket and let him eat."

You know you live in a socialist state when they complain that the failure of mothers to breastfeed their children costs the country $13 billion a year.  

No, it's not cash-strapped Cuba or totalitarian Venezuela where every radio and television station is required to carry Hugo Chavez' speeches or face  seizure.   It is a study carried in a recent issue of Pediatrics.  The study's lead author is Dr. Melissa Bartick, an instructor in medicine with the Cambridge Health Alliance and  Harvard Medical School.  

To understand the origins of the study, you need to know about the Cambridge Health Alliance. The CEO of the Alliance serves as commissioner of public health for the city of Cambridge, MA. The Alliance has a contract with the city to provide public health services for the city. In fact, they ARE the Cambridge Health Department. Their regulatory Activities page is illustrative of their ambitions. They regulate, as well as the usual Health Department interests, "Laboratory Animals," "Bodywork Therapy," "Tattoo and Body Work," "Tanning Salons," "Tobacco Control," and "Indoor Ice Rinks." And anything else they want -- the Department "has the statutory authority to make and enforce new public health regulations within the city of Cambridge." (Their words.)

The Alliance is so  financially strapped that they needed to be helped by  stimulus dollars.   (Another example of our tax dollars being used to subsidize universal healthcare in Massachusetts.)
